Koninklijke Ginkel Groep + Makers of Sustainable Spaces – The netherlands
Category: Green Interior
De Koninklijke Ginkel Groep and green design agency MOSS (Makers of Sustainable Spaces) set a sky-high standard for the future of green offices with the design and construction of Central Park, a 45-meter-high indoor park.
Precisely halfway up a 23-story-high building in the heart of Utrecht, MOSS has designed a two-storey 500m2 lush green park, endorsing the development’s name: Central Park. De Koninklijke Ginkel Groep constructed the garden.
Azorian flora was the starting point of inspiration within this project. This flora consists of Atlantic, Mediterranean, cosmopolitan (occurring all over the world), and tropical species. In total, about 50 trees and shrubs, and 1,500 plants and even a babbling brook entered the building. The mix of pine-like structures, colorful flowering buds, and tropical plants are a unique combination for Central Park.
With this tremendous green gesture, De Koninklijke Ginkelgroep and MOSS manifest an unequivocal contribution to the world of architecture and design, setting the bar for green buildings and our living environment. The design is built upon scientific data that reveals the positive effect nature has on both our physical and mental condition. Plants provide fresh air, a change of scenery and reduce stress, which in turn increases productivity in the workplace and enhances the way people experience a space.
